Tradovate Pulse 'Incorrect Username or Password'

You typed the same username and password you always use, tapped Log In on the Pulse app, and it fired back the error. Then a browser with the exact same details walked you straight in. Nine times out of ten this has nothing to do with a bad password.

Tradovate Pulse mobile login screen showing the Incorrect Username or Password error message

You typed the same username and password you always use, tapped Log In on the Pulse app, and it fired back “Incorrect Username or Password.” Then you opened a browser, punched in the exact same details, and walked straight in. Annoying, and a little confusing. Here's the good news: nine times out of ten this has nothing to do with a bad password. Your phone is quietly slipping an invisible character into the username field before you ever touch a key.

Quick fix: Turn off autofill (or your keyboard's saved-login suggestion) for the Pulse app and type your username and password by hand. The login reads even a single leading space as part of your username, so a space your keyboard adds on its own makes a correct login fail. Manual entry, with nothing in front of the first character, clears it almost every time.

What the Error Is Actually Telling You

When you hit Log In, Pulse sends the exact string sitting in each field to Tradovate and asks for a match. That check is strict. It's case-sensitive, and it's whitespace-sensitive. If your username is trader99 but the field secretly holds  trader99 with a leading space, those are two different strings, so the match fails. The app can't see inside your head, so it hands you the same generic message it uses for any mismatch: incorrect username or password. It won't say “you have a space in there,” because as far as it's concerned, you gave it the wrong login.

So where does the space come from? Two usual suspects. The first is a saved-login or password manager service, the kind built into the phone: Samsung Pass, Google's autofill service, or the Passwords feature tied to iCloud Keychain on iPhone. These remember the value you saved once, and if that saved value picked up a stray space, it gets re-inserted every single time. The second is the mobile keyboard itself. Auto-capitalize and predictive text sometimes nudge a space or a capital letter into the field, especially on the first character. On a small screen you'll never spot it.

The password field has the same trap. It's case-sensitive too, and some keyboards auto-capitalize the first letter, or a paste operation drops a leading space. A password that looks perfect through the dots can still be wrong by one character you can't see.

The Two-Minute Fix

Before you go anywhere near a password reset, do this. It fixes the large majority of these logins.

1

Clear both fields completely

Tap into the username box, select all, delete. Do the same in the password box. Don't leave a single character behind to build on.

2

Dismiss any autofill pop-up

If your phone offers to fill the saved login, ignore it, that saved value is very likely the culprit.

3

Type both credentials slowly by hand

Watch the very first character of the username like a hawk. There should be nothing, no space, in front of it.

4

Tap Log In

Tap Log In.

If that lets you in, you're done, and you now know exactly what was happening. If it still bounces you, keep working down the list below.

Work Through These in Order

Each of these knocks out a different cause. Start at the top, because the top one is the one that catches most people.

What's going wrong What to do
Autofill re-inserts a space or old valueTurn off the saved login for the app and type it manually
Hidden leading space or wrong capitalClear the field, check the first character, respect case
Not sure the credentials are even validTest them at trader.tradovate.com in a browser first
Wrong username for your account typeUse the exact Tradovate login your firm or account gave you
Password genuinely forgotten or changedReset it on the web login, then type it into Pulse by hand

1. Kill Autofill and Saved Logins

This is the single most effective move. On Android, the culprit is usually your device's autofill service, whether that's Samsung Pass on a Samsung phone or Google's autofill service on other Android devices. Dig into your phone's settings, find the general password or autofill service, and either delete the stored Tradovate entry or switch the autofill service off for the Pulse app. On an iPhone, the saved logins live under the system Passwords settings tied to iCloud Keychain, so remove the Tradovate entry there. Menu names shift between OS versions, so if the wording on your screen doesn't match exactly, look for the “passwords,” “autofill,” or “saved logins” section and confirm the current label as you go. Once the stored value is gone, type your login fresh and let the app remember the clean version instead.

2. Check for Hidden Spaces and Capitals

Tap into the username field and move the cursor all the way to the start. If the cursor lands with a gap before the first letter, there's your space, delete it. Then eyeball the capitalization. Trader99 and trader99 are not the same login to Tradovate. Mobile keyboards love to auto-capitalize the first letter of a field, so if your username or password starts lowercase, turn that first character back down manually. The same discipline applies to every capital in your password.

3. Confirm the Credentials on the Web First

This step tells you whether you're chasing an input bug or a real credential problem. Open a browser, go to trader.tradovate.com, and log in with the same username and password. If the web login works, your account is completely fine and the issue is 100% the phone's input, which means steps 1 and 2 are where your answer is. If the web login also rejects you, then the credentials themselves are wrong, and no amount of retyping on the app will help until you fix or reset them.

4. Use the Right Username for Your Account Type

People trip on this more than you'd think. A personal Tradovate account uses the username you created when you signed up, which is often your email but not always. A prop or evaluation account is different: the funding firm issues you a specific Tradovate username and password, and that login is not the same thing as the email you use for the firm's own dashboard. Pulse wants the Tradovate login, not the dashboard email. Which credentials a firm hands out, and how they're formatted, varies by firm and account size, so pull up your firm's current login instructions and match them exactly.

5. Reset the Password if It's Genuinely Wrong

If the web test in step 3 also failed, reset the password using the Forgot Password link on the web login. Set the new one, then type it into Pulse by hand rather than pasting it. One caution: don't sit there hammering the login with attempt after attempt. Too many failed tries in a row can temporarily lock the account, which turns a two-minute annoyance into a longer wait.

Stop It Happening Again

Once you're back in, spend thirty seconds making sure you don't repeat this next week. Leave autofill off for the Pulse app, or, if you like the convenience, delete the old saved entry and re-save a clean one by typing carefully so no space gets baked in. Keep the app updated from your store, since login and keyboard-handling fixes ship in updates. Knowing the proper flow on the app, desktop, and web side by side helps too, especially if you switch between the three regularly.

When to Reset or Reach Out

Here's the decision tree in plain terms. If the web login also rejects your credentials, reset the password, that's a credential problem, not an app problem. If you're on a prop account and the reset email never arrives or the funded account won't load at all, the firm controls that account, so contact your prop firm rather than Tradovate. And if you've done everything, a clean manually typed login that works fine on the web still won't go through on Pulse, that's worth a note to Tradovate support with your exact app version and device model.

Frequently Asked Questions

The most common reason is a hidden space your phone slips in front of the username. Autofill and keyboard suggestions can store or add a leading space, and the login is whitespace-sensitive and case-sensitive, so ' trader99' never matches 'trader99'. Clear both fields, turn off autofill, and type the credentials by hand with no space before the first character.

On Android the setting lives under your device's password or autofill service (for example Samsung Pass or Google's autofill service). On iPhone it sits under the system Passwords settings tied to iCloud Keychain. Disable the saved Tradovate entry or the whole autofill service for the app, then type the login manually. The exact menu labels change between OS versions, so confirm the current path in your phone settings.

If the same username and password log you in at trader.tradovate.com, your account and credentials are fine. The failure is on the phone's input, almost always an invisible leading space or an auto-capitalized character. Retype the login manually on the app, character by character, and it should go through.

Use the exact Tradovate login for your account. A personal account uses the username you set up, which is often but not always your email. On a prop or evaluation account the firm issues a specific Tradovate username and password, which is not the same as your prop-firm dashboard email. Login rules vary by firm and account size, so check your firm's current instructions.

Use the Forgot Password link on the web login at trader.tradovate.com to reset it, then type the new password into Pulse manually. Avoid hammering the login with repeated wrong attempts, since too many failures can temporarily lock the account.
