Tradovate SuperDOM order-entry controls with the Exit at Mkt and Cxl button next to the Buy and Sell buttons

When a trade turns against you or a headline hits, you don't want to be hunting through the DOM to close one leg at a time. Tradovate's Exit at Mkt & Cxl button does the whole job in one click: it dumps your open position at market and wipes out every working order tied to that instrument in the same motion. Here's exactly what it does, where to find it, and how to flatten a single contract or your entire account when speed is the only thing that matters.

What the Exit at Mkt & Cxl Button Does

Exit at Mkt & Cxl is short for "Exit at Market and Cancel." Click it once and Tradovate closes your open position in that instrument with a market order and cancels any working orders attached to it, your stop, your target, any resting limits, all gone together.

The part to burn into your head: this button is instrument-specific. It only touches the position and orders for the contract loaded in that module. If you're long CL and short ES and you hit the button on your ES SuperDOM, only the ES side flattens. Your CL position and its orders stay exactly where they were. That's the point of it, you can bail out of one trade without disturbing the rest of your book.

How to Use Exit at Mkt & Cxl: Step-by-Step

1

Find the Button in Your SuperDOM or Chart

Open a SuperDOM or a Chart module for the instrument you're trading. The Exit at Mkt & Cxl button lives in the order-entry controls, sitting alongside your Buy, Sell, and cancel buttons. It shows up in both modules, so use whichever one you're already watching the trade from.

2

Click to Flatten That Instrument

With an open position on the screen, click Exit at Mkt & Cxl once. Tradovate fires a market order in the opposite direction to close the position and, at the same time, cancels the working orders for that contract. It acts right away, so treat it like an eject handle, reach for it only when you actually mean to be out.

3

Confirm You're Flat

Glance at your Positions and Orders panels. The position for that instrument should read flat (zero contracts), and the Orders tab should show nothing working for it anymore. Two seconds of confirmation beats assuming and finding a stray order later.

4

Flatten Every Instrument at Once

Need to clear the whole account, not just one contract? Click your account balance at the top of the platform. That control closes every open position at market and cancels all working orders across all instruments in one shot, the account-wide version of the same idea. Handy when you're spread across several symbols and want everything flat before the close or a news print.

When to Reach for It

  • Kill a losing trade instantly when price blows through your plan and you want out now.
  • Flatten before a news release or the cash close without clicking through each order by hand.
  • Clear a single instrument while leaving your other positions and orders untouched.
  • Stay inside prop-firm rules by exiting fast when you're creeping toward a loss limit (limits vary by firm and account size, check your firm's current rules).
  • Reset a messy order book, one click removes the position and every stray working order for that contract.

Yes. The "& Cxl" half cancels every working order tied to that instrument, including your ATM bracket's stop and target, so you're not left with orphaned orders resting in the market after the position closes.

A market order. It's built for speed, so it takes whatever fill the market hands you rather than waiting at a price. In fast conditions, expect some slippage on the exit.

The same button spot has a dropdown that can switch the control to Reverse, which flips your position from long to short (or short to long) instead of just closing it. Set it to whichever behavior you want before you're in a live trade so a click does what you expect.
