Bookmap Orders Not Reaching Tradovate (Apex Sim)
The fill lights up in Bookmap, but Tradovate shows nothing. It's almost never your Apex account being a “sim”, it's Bookmap's own run mode or connection settings keeping the order local.
You click buy on the Bookmap heatmap, the fill lights up, your position line appears, and then you glance at Tradovate and there's nothing. No order, no position, no fill. It looks like your orders just die somewhere between Bookmap and the broker. On an Apex or other prop evaluation account, the usual first guess is “my account is a sim, so maybe it can't take real orders.” That guess is almost always wrong, and chasing it wastes an afternoon.
Here's the short version: when an order fills in Bookmap but never shows on Tradovate, the order never left Bookmap. It filled inside Bookmap's own internal simulator, or it was pointed at a connection that only carries data. The fix is about Bookmap's trading state and which account you're routing to, not about your evaluation being “simulated.” Let's find where the order is getting stuck.
Quick Checklist Before You Dig In
- Check Bookmap's run mode. If you launched in Simulation mode, fills stay inside Bookmap and never transmit to your broker.
- Confirm Tradovate is connected for trading, not just data. A data-only connection shows quotes but can't route orders.
- Look at which account the Trade Control Panel is pointed at. If it says a demo or simulated account, that's where your fills are going.
- Verify the backend your prop account uses. An Apex account issued on a different platform than the one you connected has no matching account to route to.
- Confirm your Bookmap package allows live order routing. Trading to a funded account needs the Global+ tier.
- Watch the Tradovate Orders panel while you send a test order. If nothing appears there, the order isn't reaching Tradovate at all.
Why “Filled in Bookmap, Nothing on Tradovate” Happens
Bookmap can run in two very different states, and they look almost identical on screen. In Simulation mode, Bookmap trades against its own internal simulator using live market data. Your orders fill, your P&L moves, everything feels real, but nothing is transmitted to your brokerage account. In live trading mode, that same click sends the order out through a connected broker like Tradovate for a real fill.
So there are two separate simulations that people mix up. One is your account being a prop evaluation (a “sim” in the sense that it's not your own cash). The other is Bookmap running its internal simulator instead of routing to the broker. The first one does not stop orders, prop firms route evaluation orders to Tradovate all day long. The second one absolutely stops them, because by design it keeps every fill local. When your Bookmap position and your Tradovate position disagree, the culprit is nearly always the second kind of sim, plus a handful of connection and account-selection mistakes that produce the same symptom.
To route real orders, three things all have to be true at once: Bookmap has to be in a live trading run mode, the Tradovate connection has to be enabled for trading (not data only), and the Trade Control Panel has to be armed on the actual Tradovate account you intend to trade. Miss any one and your fills quietly stay inside Bookmap.
Top Causes of Orders Not Reaching Tradovate
1. Bookmap is running in Simulation mode
This is the number-one cause, full stop. Bookmap picks its trading behavior from the run mode you choose when the app launches. If you selected the simulation run mode, every order fills against the built-in simulator and none of it reaches your broker. It's easy to do by accident, because simulation mode still streams live data and still shows realistic fills. The account being an “Apex sim” has nothing to do with it, the block is Bookmap simulating on its own.
2. Tradovate is connected for data only, not trading
Bookmap lets you use Tradovate two ways: for both market data and trading, or purely for order routing while a feed like dxFeed or Rithmic supplies the chart data. If you added Tradovate as a data source but never enabled trading on that connection, you'll see quotes update perfectly and orders go nowhere. The connection reads as “connected,” which is exactly why this one fools people. Trading has to be explicitly enabled on the Tradovate connection, and the Trade Control Panel has to be turned on for order entry.

3. The Trade Control Panel is pointed at the wrong account
Bookmap can have more than one tradable account available at the same time, the internal simulator plus your live Tradovate account, for instance. The Trade Control Panel has an account selector that decides where your clicks go. If that selector is sitting on the simulated account (or a different connection than you think), your fills land there instead of on Tradovate. It's worth checking every time, because the selection can reset when you reconnect or reopen a workspace.
4. Your Apex account isn't on the Tradovate backend
Prop accounts are provisioned on a specific platform when you buy them, and you generally can't switch that platform mid-account. Apex's current lineup runs across Rithmic, Tradovate, and WealthCharts, and Bookmap is very commonly connected to Apex through Rithmic rather than Tradovate. If your evaluation was issued on the Rithmic backend but you set up a Tradovate connection in Bookmap, there simply is no Tradovate account for the order to reach. Which backends are available, and how each one connects, varies by firm and changes over time, so confirm your account's platform with your firm rather than assuming.
5. Wrong credentials or the wrong login environment
A prop evaluation uses firm-issued Tradovate credentials that live on the evaluation environment, not your personal Tradovate login. If you connected Bookmap with a personal account, or pointed the connection at the wrong environment, fills go to whichever account you actually authenticated, which may not be the Apex account on your screen.
6. Your Bookmap package doesn't include live routing
Routing orders from the Bookmap chart to a funded or evaluation account requires the Global+ package. On a lower tier, chart trading to a real broker can be disabled, which leaves you able to place simulated orders only. If trading controls look active but nothing ever reaches Tradovate and no error appears, a package limitation is worth ruling out.
How to Get Bookmap Orders Reaching Tradovate: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Relaunch Bookmap in a live trading run mode
Fully close Bookmap
Fully close Bookmap.
Choose the live trading run mode
Reopen it and, at the run-mode/launch screen, choose the real or live trading mode rather than the simulation mode. The exact label wording shifts between Bookmap versions, so read the options carefully and pick the one that connects to a broker for real order routing.
Restart if you're unsure which mode you're in
If you're not certain which mode you're in, that alone is a strong sign this is your problem. Restart and pick the live option deliberately.
Step 2: Confirm the Tradovate connection is enabled for trading
Open Connections > Configure
Open the connections area (Connections › Configure) and find your Tradovate connection.
Make sure trading is enabled
Make sure trading is enabled on it, not just data. If you're using a separate feed for data and Tradovate only for routing, confirm Tradovate is the one carrying the order flow.
Re-enter the correct credentials
Enter or re-enter the correct Tradovate credentials, on a prop account, the exact firm-issued login for the correct environment.

Step 3: Arm the Trade Control Panel on the right account
Turn on the Trade Control Panel
Turn on the Trade Control Panel for your instrument so you can place orders from the chart.
Select your live Tradovate account
Open the account selector in the panel and confirm it's set to your live Tradovate (Apex) account, not the simulator or a different connection.
Double-check the contract
Double-check the instrument matches an active, current contract on Tradovate. A mismatched or expired contract can also block routing.
Step 4: Send one test order and verify it on Tradovate
Place a small order
Place a single small order from Bookmap.
Check Tradovate's Orders and Positions
Switch to Tradovate (web, desktop, or mobile) and open the Orders and Positions modules. If the order and position show up there, routing is working end to end.
Re-check if the panel stays empty
If Bookmap shows a fill but Tradovate's Orders panel stays empty, the order still isn't leaving Bookmap, go back and re-check the run mode, the trading-enabled connection, and the account selector, in that order.

Keep the confusion straight: an Apex evaluation being a “sim” account is normal and does not stop routing. Evaluation accounts are meant to accept routed orders. The sim that keeps your fills local is Bookmap's own Simulation run mode. Fix Bookmap's state first, then worry about the account.
Troubleshooting Table
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Fill shows in Bookmap, nothing in Tradovate Orders/Positions | Bookmap is in Simulation run mode | Relaunch Bookmap in a live/real trading run mode, then connect Tradovate for trading |
| Quotes update fine but orders never route; connection shows “connected” | Tradovate connected for data only | Enable trading on the Tradovate connection and arm the Trade Control Panel |
| Fills land on a demo/simulated account inside Bookmap | Trade Control Panel pointed at the wrong account | Select your live Tradovate (Apex) account in the panel's account selector |
| Tradovate connection can't find your Apex account at all | Account provisioned on a different backend (e.g. Rithmic) | Connect Bookmap through the backend your account actually uses; confirm with your firm |
| Trading controls look active but nothing routes and no error appears | Package tier doesn't include live chart trading | Upgrade to the Global+ package that supports routing to a funded account |
| Random disconnects with Bookmap plus Tradovate web open at once | Session limit hit on the same account | Reduce simultaneous logins on that account while trading through Bookmap |
A Simpler Path to Automated Tradovate Orders
If the reason you're on Bookmap is order-flow reading, that's great, but if you're really there to automate a strategy into Tradovate, routing through a desktop charting app puts a lot of fragile links in the chain. One wrong run mode and your live signals quietly trade a simulator. PickMyTrade takes a different route:
- Server-side routing sends your TradingView alerts or webhooks straight to Tradovate, so execution doesn't depend on a desktop app being in the right mode.
- Prop-account aware connections work with Apex and other firm-issued Tradovate evaluation and funded accounts, with the firm's rules respected.
- Multi-account sync mirrors one signal across every connected account at once, instead of one chart, one click, one account.
- Clear order feedback tells you when an order routed and when it was rejected, so a silent non-fill can't hide the way a local simulation does.

Almost always because Bookmap is routing the order to its own internal simulator, or the Tradovate connection is set up for data only. In Bookmap's Simulation mode the fill happens on the Bookmap client and nothing is transmitted to your brokerage account, so Tradovate never sees the order.
No. An evaluation account is built to receive routed orders, that's how you trade a prop eval every day. The simulation that blocks routing is Bookmap's own Simulation run mode, not your account's evaluation status. Don't get the two confused.
Close Bookmap and relaunch it, then pick the real or live trading run mode instead of Simulation, and connect Tradovate for trading rather than data only. Confirm the exact wording of the run-mode option in your current build, since Bookmap adjusts these labels over time.
It depends on which backend your account was issued on when you bought it. Prop accounts are usually locked to one platform at purchase, and Bookmap is commonly fed through Rithmic. If your evaluation lives on a different backend than the one you connected, orders have nowhere to route. Check your firm's current setup.
Routing orders from the Bookmap chart to a funded or evaluation account requires the Global+ package. On a lower tier, chart trading to your broker may be disabled, which leaves you stuck placing simulated orders only.
Yes. Bookmap supports using Tradovate solely for order routing while a provider like dxFeed or Rithmic supplies the chart data. Just make sure the connection you route orders through is the Tradovate trading connection, not the data feed.
Contact Bookmap support to confirm your run mode and that the Tradovate connection is enabled for trading, and contact your prop firm to confirm which backend your account uses and whether third-party front-ends are allowed to route to it. Have your account ID ready.
It can. Logging the same account into Bookmap plus Tradovate web or TradingView at once can hit session limits and trigger disconnects that look like routing failures. Keep simultaneous logins to a minimum while you troubleshoot.
